Optimum sitting – an undiscovered resource
Sitting in conventional chairs often causes a variety of back-related and other problems. Salli Systems’ ergonomic ’saddle chairs’ are designed to prevent and cure these problems.
Health problems, discomfort, and reduced productivity are the three main problems associated with the sitting-oriented disorders that people encounter when sitting in conventional chairs.
These are primarily the result of the fact that people simply cannot sit ‘correctly’ in normal chairs. Leaning back in a chair while concentrating on something in front of you is a recipe for bad spine posture – and many problems.
Bad posture while sitting results in shoulder tension and pressure on the discs in the back, and weakens back muscles as well. As the ligaments and muscles between the vertebrae stretch, a person’s posture becomes steadily worse.
Bad posture also leads to poor breathing, as a result of a lack of oxygen being delivered to the lungs, and puts pressure on the stomach area. Sharp knee and hip angles can contribute to the onset of arthritis; while pressure and elevated humidity and temperature in the genital area can translate into other health risks.
Physiologically, a sitting posture that focuses pressure on the buttocks and the lower thigh muscles impedes circulation to the lower legs and feet, causing swelling, varicose veins, the build-up of cellulite, and ‘cold feet’. Muscle metabolism and functionality are also negatively affected
In addition to the risks they bring for people’s overall health, all these problems also reduce their productivity and motivation.
